Summer means relaxation and fun trips, but for many kids across Central Florida, it also means no more free/reduced school breakfast and lunch. Over the summer, JFS Orlando’s Pearlman Emergency Food Pantry sees a 40% increase in hungry families who struggle without these school meals. That’s on top of the already striking numbers:

1 out of 6 people
in Central Florida are unsure when they will have their next meal or from where it will come.

113 million meals
a year are needed to fill the hunger gap in our community.

1 in 4 kids
in our community are at risk of going hungry tonight.*

How You Can Help

Help us feed hungry children and families in our community this summer by participating in our Summer Food Drive! Our goal is to collect 10,000 lbs of food and we can’t do it alone.

Individuals

  • Print out a shopping list today and take it with you the next time you go shopping. Add your favorite non-perishable food items or go to our pantry webpage for a list of accepted (and not accepted) items.
  • Take advantage of BOGO products at the store and donate the second item.
  • Have a birthday, Fourth of July, or game-watching party coming up? Ask guests to bring an extra snack to donate!

Food donations can be dropped off at participating local offices and business or directly at JFS Orlando.
Drop-off:
JFS Orlando – The George Wolly Center
2100 Lee Road
Winter Park, FL 32789

Offices, Businesses, and Groups

  • Want to make an even BIGGER impact? Running an office, business, or group food drive is a fun team-building activity. You can assign specific foods to different people or foster a healthy competition between departments!
  • Make it a social responsibility effort. Get your customers involved too by placing a box at your front desk for customers to drop off donations. Offer raffles and discounts to participating customers. Or print out Hunger Hero stickers and give one to everyone who donates!
  • Did we mention there’s a prize? The group that collects the most pounds of food by July 31st will win a free breakfast! (up to 20 people)
