- Thanksgiving/Secular New Years Letter
Send us your mailing list and we will write a letter to your friends or business associates letting them know that a donation has been made to Jewish Family Services in their honor. Forget the candy this year or the basket of fruit. A donation in their honor will let them know that you are "gifting" them with a donation that will enhance the life of someone in need.
- High Holy Day Food Drive
Area synagogues have a food drive every year between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Every year people get an empty bag on Rosh Hashanah and when they return to synagogue on Yom Kippur, they bring their full bag(s). Very often people choose to make a cash donation instead. Sometimes people do both.
- Cash Donations
Donation make it possible for Jewish Family Services to go to Second Harvest (the largest food bank in the community) and purchase perishables and other food at significantly lower prices than supermarkets.
- Food Drives
The Boy Scouts and the Postal Workers annually have a major food drive and JFS is one of the many recipients. Elijah's Harvest, from the Jewish Federation of Greater Orlando also sponsors a food drive around the holiday of Passover. Major businesses also hold food drives.
- The Feinstein Challenge
This is a food drive created by Allan Shawn Feinstein of Rhode Island as part of his effort to combat hunger. Every year during March and April, all the food and money donated to the pantry gets matched by a certain percentage.
- Centerpieces for Tzedakah
Centerpieces for Tzedakah is a program that provides beautifully decorated centerpiece baskets that are available for rent from Jewish Family Services. Gorgeous baskets are filled with a representation of assorted packages of food items. They are attractively wrapped in clear cellophane and decorated.
