We know that sometimes people need a little help to get through some difficult times in their life. We are here for you. Call the Center for Counseling, Growth and Development at 407-644-7593.

Jewish Family Services has a long tradition of helping individuals, couples and families heal themselves through counseling. We now have five licensed mental health professionals on staff. We are able to see more clients with the addition of evening hours and additional staffing.

Support Groups
As requested, support groups help children , families and adults gain strength and confidence with a group of people who share similar situations.
Children - Peer Group Pressure
Adults - Parenting Skills and working with teenagers
Families - No two families are the same. There are single parents, grandparents raising their grandchildren, different cultures. Many people find a little help is needed to provide the tools for families to adapt to different family dynamics.

Older Adult Services at Jewish Family Services
We offer contact with the outside world and provide services that allow older adults to remain independent in their homes. Our professional staff meets with seniors in their homes, assisted living or other residential situations to assess their needs and provide recommendations. We provide assistance in accessing appropriate area services and in-home counseling if necessary.

Client advocacy is another component of our Older Adult program. Case managers function as "extended family" for elderly adults suffering from loneliness, grief, illness of spouse or self, isolation and other issues.

- Senior Services at Kinneret Apartments
Social services for the residents of Kinneret are available with our on-site social worker who counsels residents to lessen their anxieties regarding health and personal issues. She helps the residents create a caring community.

The Kinneret Congregate Housing Service Program coordinator arranges for personal services as well as homemaking services.

- R.I.D.E. (Reliable Independent Drivers for the Elderly)
This program, sponsored by Jewish Family Services of Greater Orlando, is to provide transportation to medical appointment for older adults who have no other means of transportation.

- Jewish Grief Support Groups (for bereaved spouses)
Have you recently lost your spouse? Are you having difficulties coping with the loss? Do you want to talk? You may want to join a bereavement support group at Jewish Family Services.

The group meets for six consecutive weeks at Jewish Family Services of Greater Orlando, The George Wolly Center, 2100 Lee Road, Winter Park, Florida.

- GRANDPARENTS Connect
This program brings grandparents together with their children who live in interfaith families. Programs are held around all the Jewish Holidays. It provides a fun, informative setting for grandparents to share their heritage with their grandchildren and to create lasting bonds as stories and heritage are passed from one generation to another.

- Jewish Chaplaincy
This program is sponsored by the Greater Orlando Board of Rabbis, Jewish Family Services, the Jewish Federation of Greater Orlando and members of our community. Our Community Rabbi, Rabbi E. Arny Siegel, is available to individuals in the Orlando community who are not affiliated with a synagogue. He will visit people in their home, hospital, nursing home or in prison. Rabbi Siegel will also perform funeral services and shiva services to unaffiliated people.

- Jewish Indigent Burial
In conjunction with area synagogues and Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel, Jewish Family Services coordinates indigent burials when no other family support is available.

- Jewish Hospice (Yad L'Hesed)
Yad L'Hesed, Jewish Hospice, provides end of life counseling and services. This program is a partnership among Jewish Family Services, Hospice of the Comforter, and Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel.
